Vitamin D3 is known to undergo functional metabolism first in the liver, resulting in 25, hydroxy vitamin D3 which is transformed latter in the kidney to la,25-and 24(R),25_dihydroxy vitamin D 3, both hormonally active in calciumhomeostasis.' The activity of D2 in mammals
