✦ Synopsis
A dilatometer is described for accurate measurements of "volumes of mixing" of liquid mixtures at temperatures between 10°C and 60°C. Measurements of the system n-hexane + n-hexadecane at 20°C show a satisfactory agreement with the data obtained previously for the same system by DES-MYTER & VAN DER WAALS.
A new formula with only one parameter is proposed in order to calculate d V of mixing of normal alkanes. The agreement of the experimental and the theoretical values is quite satisfactory.
