The ESR properties of 3000ยฐC heat treated fibers derived from mesophase pitch and PAN have been measured and compared with computer-simulated spectra. Conduction electron motional averaging was observed in the PAN-and pitch-based fibers with domains small in the transverse direction. When perpendicu

โฆ Synopsis
Dynamic mechanical measurements and short beam shear tests have been used to characterize an Epon 828/MPDA epoxy resin and its composites with types A and HM carbon fibers. T, of the unfilled resin is sensitive to both epoxy stoichiometry and curing schedule. Composite properties depend on fiber type, fiber surface treatment and composite thermal history. Results are explained by a morphological model which includes both adsorptive and covalent interactions.

TheESR spectrum of the radical cation of 3-methylpentane (3-MP) in CFC12CF2Cl has been obtained. The spectrum is almost identical to that for the 2-methylbutane radical cation. From the spectral analysis it is concluded that 3-MP+ has a GT skeletal conformation and the unpaired electron is confined
Electron spin resonance measurements have been made on carbonized acenapllthylene in the pure state and in solutions in inert liquids. Well-resolved nuclear hyperfine structure is observed in the liquid solutions, Isotopic substitution csperiments proye that nuclear hyperfine intcructiorl is the mai
The thresho!d electron impact spectrum of CO is obtained using the sulphur hesafluoride electron scavenging trchniaue. Structure at 10 eV is correlated with the resonance recently observed in electron transmission and scattering studies of CO.
