In the title compound, C~18~H~24~Cl~2~N~4~O~2~, a quarternary adduct consisting of two water molecules and two chloride ions binds the centrosymmetric 2,2′-(butane-1,4-diyl)dibenzimidazolium cations into two-dimensional hydrogen-bonded layers.
The structure of the title compound, C 19 H 22 N 2 O 2 , shows two intramolecular O-HÁ Á ÁN hydrogen-bonding interactions. The packing is stabilized through van der Waals contacts and two C-HÁ Á Á interactions.
In the title compound, C 25 H 28 N 6 2+ Á2Cl À Á2H 2 O, the dihedral angle between the two benzimidazole groups is 88.42 (4) . The crystal structure is stabilized by hydrogen bonds.
