✦ Synopsis

One-pot reduction-triggered 1,4-addition reaction of various nitroarenes to the a,b-unsaturated sulfones was investigated. In the presence of indium/iodine in MeOH at room temperature, nitroarenes reduced in situ reacted with vinyl sulfones and produced b-(N-hydroxylamino) sulfones in good yields.
