1,2-a]pyrimidines, 2,3-dihydro 2-Chloro-4,5-dihydroimidazole (1) reacts with 4-(dimethylamino)pyridine to yield the stable pyridinium salt 2, which on treatment with some C -H acids produces 1,2,3,5-tetrahydroimidazo[ 1,Z-alpyrimidines 6.
