3-Hydroxy-1-thiochromone (34 reacts with formaldehyde and amines to yield the title compounds 5a-5h. Heating of 5a results in the formation of the spiro compound 9. Addition of the enamines 11 or 12 leads to the pyranothiochrornones 1% or 14.
