✦ Synopsis

Using 'H and "0 NMR spectroscopy it was shown that in the initial stage of the reaction of TiO( acac), (Hacac= acetylacetone) with an excess of Me,COOH in benzene an alkylperoxo complex Ti( acac)2( OOCMe,)OH is formed. The mode of generation of this alkylperoxo complex (via addition of Me,COOH to Ti=O bond) differs from that previously observed for alkylperoxo complexes of vanadium( IV) and molybdenum( VI) (via oxidative addition or ligand substitution. respectively). Ti( acac),( QOCMe,)OH is probably octahedral with acetylacetonato ligands occupying equatorial positions.

## Abstract ^1^H, ^13^C and ^17^O NMR chemical shifts, __^n^J__(H,H) and __^n^J__(C,H) spin‐spin coupling constants and IR absorption maxima and intensities for the most characteristic bands of methyl propanoate and all eleven chloropropanoic acid methyl esters are reported.
