โฆ Synopsis
The impregnation of graphite bodies with coal tar pitch has been studied on a laboratory scale as a function of pore size distribution, impregnant and the impregnation variables of time, temperature and pressure. A mathematical description of the impregnation process in which the general form of Darcy's Law for radial flow of a Newtonian fluid through a permeable media was applied to the molten pitch-baked carbon system. It is shown that the mathematical description and experimental data are consistent with each other.
