โฆ Synopsis
The absorption and fluorescence spectra, fluorescence yields and decay times of all trans-1,6_diphenyI-1,3,5hexatriene @PHI have been measured over a range of temperature in several different solvents. In non-polar solvents fluorescence yields decrease with increase of temperature whilst decay times are independent of temperature but vary with solvent in the systems examined between 0" and 100ยฐC. The results are explained by a mechanism in which a configurational change is required for efficient fluorescence.
. DPH is suitable for deve!opment as a fluorescent standard for both yield and lifetime measurements.
