β¦ Synopsis
integrated intensities and diffuse X-ray scattering were measured from highly oriented pyrolytic graphite to characterize the thermal displacement parameters. Values of the mean square displacements (uz) of the carbon atoms perpendicular to the basal planes are large, whereas, the displacements are small in the basal planes.
- Total hemispherical emittance of graphite and pyrolytic graphite at elevated temperatures R. J. Champetier and J. D. McClelland (Aerospace Corporation, El Segundo, Calz~ornia). The total hemispherical emittance of ATJ graphite and 'as deposited' pyrolytic graphite layers on ATJ graphite cylinders has been measured from 1200" to about 2800Β°C using a high temperature calorimeter technique. The emittance of ATJ is about O-8 over the entire range. A value of 0.6 was obtained for PG up to 2600 were irreversible changes in surface finish increased cH to progressively higher values. Data is also presented on measurements of the normal emittance, the electrical resistivity and thermal conductivity which are obtained as part of the experimental technique.

PREVIOUS measurements of the thermal conductivity of these metals have been made in both the superconductive and normal state between 2 and 4 Β° K by Mendelssohn and Olsen ~ and Rosenberg. 2 Inconsistent results have been reported for the critical field values and this agrees with the conclusions tha
The dielectric strength of coaxial cylindrical gaps in vacuum, gaseous helium at low temperature or liquid helium has been investigated under d.c. stresses in the presence of transverse magnetic field. Experimental results show that the dielectric strength in vacuum is lowered drastically by the app
Insulator-to-metal transition of polyimide films can be performed by pyrolysis at high temperature as proposed by the authors. The maximum conductivity of the polyimide pyrolyzed at 950Β°C for 0.5 h in a nitrogen atmosphere was measured to be 248 S/cm. The structure, electrical, and magnetic properti
A simple theoretical model that describes the pulsed Davies electron-nuclear double resonance (ENDOR) experiment for an electron spin S β«Ψβ¬ 1 2 coupled to a nuclear spin I β«Ψβ¬ 1 2 was developed to account for unusual W-band (95 GHz) ENDOR effects observed at low temperatures. This model takes into a
