โœฆ Synopsis

Developed.--An acoustic noise facility capable of producing a higher sound pressure level than has ever been achieved in a large capacity reverberant chamber has been accepted by Sud Aviation, Cannes, France, from the manufacturer, Avco Corporation. Noise generators designed by Avco's Research and Advanced Development division of Wilmington, Mass., feed 146 decibels into a 200-cu. ft. pentagonal reverberant chamber where individual octave band sound pressure levels can be maintained within ยฑ3 db with a specimen as large as 20 cu ft.

The major components of the acoustic test facility developed for Sud Aviation are a pentagonal reverberant chamber, noise generators, amplifiers, control console, and instrumentation.

Altogether, 36 noise generators and 21 power amplifiers are used in this system. Thirty-four of the noise gen-
