✦ Synopsis

WHILE we were engaged in an ion cyclotron resonance study of the ion-molecule reaction of the styrene radical-cation with neutral styrene,l we had occasion to examine the conventional mass spectrum of 1-phenyltetralin. The most intense peak at either high (70 eV) or low (I 1.7 eV) ionizing potential (other than the molecular ion) was that corresponding to loss of C6H6 from the molecular ion. While similar losses

The electron impact mass spectra of new 5-acetyl-4-aryl-6-methyl-2(1H)pyridones have been studied. A dominant peak in all the spectra is due to cleavage of the CO-NH bond of the amido group with charge retention on the carbonyl group. This fragmentation is followed by a hydrogen rearrangement to the

## Abstract Electron impact mass spectra (70 eV) were generated for tri‐__O__‐benzyl‐D‐glucal and six XC~6~H~5~S substituted 3,4,6‐tri‐__O__‐benzyl‐β‐__C__‐glucosides which had been modified at C(2) by the introduction of an XC~6~H~4~S fragment (where X = CH~3~ or CI) in an effort to understand bet
