Fluorine-graphite intercalation compounds have been prepared from HOPG and natural graphite powder in the presence of a fluoride such as AgF, WF,, or SbF, at room temperature. The C,F samples obtained were quasi stage 1, 2, and 3 compounds with compositions of Cz ,F-CU hF. The stage 1 hases in the a

โฆ Synopsis
The kinetics of intercalation of bromine in graphite were modeled by considering the change in free energy from stage to stage and the diffusion of bromine. The model predicts that Cn,4BrZ is unstable at temperatures above N 250ยฐC. Satisfactory agreement was found between the model and the experimental time-temperature-transformation curves.
