โฆ Synopsis
Stable
isotope-labelled tetra-n-butyl(l24)tin was fxnthesized by the reaction of n-butylmagnesium bromide with 4SnC14.
Tri-n-butyltin bromide was synthesized by bromine cleavage of the tetraalkyltin. The compound can be used to trace chemical, biological and physical processes in environmental and metabolic studies using gas chromatography and electron impact low resolution mass spectrometry. The simplified spectra of the isotopically enriched compounds leads to a twofold increase in detection sensitivity by GC/MS.

The effects of tributyltin and sodium cyanide on hemolysis in human erythrocytes are described. Tributyltin has a sharp cut-off concentration for induction of hemolysis. A 5 p~ concentration of tributyltin induces hemolysis and 1 p~ or less does not in erythrocyte suspensions with 2.3X108 cells per
