✦ Synopsis
The title molecule, C 10 H 10 Br 4 , lies on a crystallographic inversion center which is located at the center of the benzene ring. The crystal structure is stabilized by intermolecular BrÁ Á ÁBr and C-HÁ Á ÁBr interactions.

Dimethoxy-2,3-dimethylbenzene was brominated under radical conditions to give the title compound, C 10 H 11 Br 3 O 4 . The bond lengths and angles are generally within the normal ranges. The crystal packing is stabilized by weak intermolecular C-HÁ Á ÁO and C-HÁ Á ÁBr hydrogen bonds.
The title compound, C 16 H 6 F 12 , has been obtained as a byproduct of the reaction between 2,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyllithium and zinc(II) chloride. The asymmetric unit contains two independent molecules with a similar almost perpendicular conformation of the biphenyl fragments.
In the title compound, C 8 H 8 Br 2 , the molecules are located on inversion centres and are connected through weak intermolecular BrÁ Á ÁBr interactions into layers parallel to the (102) plane.
