✦ Synopsis
The evaluation is carried out through realistic simulations and its performance, particularly in tracking substrate concentration setpoint and in rejecting disturbances, is compared with those of more classical ones (PI and L/A controllers). The controller's sensitivity to modelling errors is analyzed; in particular in relation to uncertainties on growth kinetics models. Problems in terms of design, tuning, and implementation of such controllers are also considered.
099 Model and Control Strategies of a Two Stage
Anaerobic Digestor J. AIvarez, O. Monroy, V. Ruiz, This work describes a model for a two stage anaerobic digestor that takes into account the fact that in the UASB configuration the biomass is retained within the digester and purges periodically. Three control strategies are proposed: LA, linearizing and PI. By means of numerical simulations the advantages and disadvantages of the three strategies are shown.
