Received in ult 9 du (prst 1972; aoospted for publiaatian 16 Augwt 1972) 'tie wish to report thet the pyrazole derivatives (1 -1) which are derived from the reaction of a-hydrazino-azaheterocycles with $-dicarbonyl co.:lpounds or acetylenic esters are true 5-hydroxypyrazoles (A -1. C), stabilized by hydrogen bonding (cf l0). They represent a significant exception to the usual rule that such compounds exist as ZI&(cf A) or 4g-pyrazolin-5-ones (B).
