✦ Synopsis

In Japanese) The title method and equipment include using pore-containing fixed carbon component as raw material, impregnating pores of the raw material with an impregnation liquid, freezing treating the raw material for expanding volume of the pores, respectively, and then removing the impregnation component from the pores for activation treating and obtaining activated carbon. The above state raw material can be obtained by thermal decomposition (e.g. destructive distillation) of fixed carbon-containing organic matter (e.g. wastes or industrial wastes). The raw material may also be crushed to obtain powered coal prior to impregnation. The impregnation liquid carl be water, steam, or aqueous solution of acid or alkali. The refrigerant used for freezing treating is liquid nitrogen. The above stated activation treating can be heating.
