โฆ Synopsis
In this paper, the combustion stability and thermal decomposition properties of a nitramine propellant (composed of EC, NC, RDX and HNS) was studied by closed bomb test and DSC technique. Uniform experimental design was used to investigate the effect of proportions of the different components on combustion properties of the propellant. The experimental data were evaluated by polynomial regression to give a quantitative description of the influence of each component. It was discovered that the ignitability and combustion stability of the propellant may be improved by a moderate content of HNS.

Study on the effect of coal rank and heating rate on pyrolysis Zhu, X. e/ al. Meiran Zhuanhuu, 1999, 22, (2). 43-47. (In Chinese) Thermogravimetric analysis under non-isothermal conditions was used to study the pyrolyses of eight ranks of Chinese coals. From the results it was evident that the pyrolytic process of coal can be divided into three stages, in the second stage, the temperature ranges from 250 to 320ยฐC and is the main process of weight loss (70-80% of total volatile matter). By the improving of coal rank, the initiate temperature of coal pyrolysis is increased from 300-460ยฐC. While the heating rate is enhanced, the temperature of maximum rate of coal weight loss is increased. Coal rank and the final pyrolysis temperature are used to detect the ultimate yields of total volatile.
